Short answer: Buy the 2026 if what you want is on the lot now and the 2027 changes don’t matter to you. Order or wait for a 2027 if one of Ford’s announced 2027 changes is a must-have. As of October 21, 2026, Ford has published 2027 changes for the F-150 (a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 becomes the base engine, the 5.0L V8 returns to King Ranch and Platinum, BlueCruise with Towing, an F-150 Carhartt package) and the Super Duty (the 7.3L gas V8 is standard on every F-250 and F-350, new colors and packages). On ford.com, the Ranger and Mustang Mach-E still show 2026 models with no 2027 details, and the only 2027 Mustang news is the Dark Horse SC Convertible. At Team Ford today, 2027 Super Duty trucks are already in stock. Every new F-150, Ranger, Mustang and Mach-E we checked is a 2026 or a 2025.

What Ford says changes for 2027
2027 F-150
Per Ford’s 2027 F-150 overview on From the Road and the 2027 section of ford.com’s F-150 page:
- New base engine: a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 replaces the 2.7L EcoBoost V6. Ford says the two share peak capability and the 3.0L delivers roughly 10–11% more torque where daily driving happens.
- 5.0L V8 returns to King Ranch and Platinum, so it’s available from XL to Platinum.
- New grilles and wheel designs on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.
- BlueCruise with Towing: hands-free highway driving while towing, on Ford’s pre-qualified divided highways (Blue Zones). Ford says every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150 gets it, from XLT and Tremor to Platinum, at no extra cost with an active BlueCruise subscription.
- F-150 Carhartt package on 4×4 XLT crew cab models. Ford said it was available to order as of its September 15, 2026 announcement, with trucks arriving in early 2027.
- New entry-level Tremor and Raptor versions that keep the off-road hardware and drop some comfort features.

2027 Super Duty
Per the “What’s new on the 2027 Ford Super Duty” answer on ford.com’s Super Duty page:
- 7.3L gas V8 standard on all F-250 and F-350 models; 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke diesel standard on all F-450 models.
- Digital rear view mirror now available on Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.
- New colors: Neptune Blue and Iconic Silver Metallic.
- Tremor Off-Road Package now available with a 6.75-ft or 8-ft box, and on XL when paired with the STX Appearance Package, XL Driver Assist Package and 160″ wheelbase.
- New Super Duty Carhartt Package, and the XL Off-Road Package now offers 33″ or 35″ tires.
- Wheel updates for XLT, Lariat and King Ranch.

2027 Mustang
Ford’s 2027 Mustang news is the Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible: a supercharged 5.2L V8 rated at 795 hp and 660 lb-ft per Ford, with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ford says orders open in fall 2026 and cars arrive in dealer showrooms starting in spring 2027. Ford hasn’t posted other 2027 Mustang changes on ford.com as of October 21, 2026.
2027 Ranger and 2027 Mustang Mach-E
As of October 21, 2026, ford.com shows only the 2026 Ranger and 2026 Mach-E. Ford hasn’t published 2027 changes for either on ford.com or From the Road. Merchants Fleet reports a Ranger order bank opening 10/15/26 and a Mach-E order bank opening 10/22/26 (both as reported, not Ford-confirmed). If you’re waiting on a specific 2027 Ranger or Mach-E change you’ve read about, wait until Ford confirms it before you count on it.

Two things are true either way. A 2026 bought now is a 2026 when you trade it in later. A 2027 ordered now can take months to arrive. Neither choice is wrong. It depends on your timing and whether a specific 2027 change matters to you.
Las Vegas angle: if you tow a boat to Lake Mead or a camper toward Utah, BlueCruise with Towing is the 2027 F-150 change most worth a look. Check Ford’s Blue Zone map for your route first, because it works only on Ford’s pre-qualified divided highways. If you need a truck for a job that starts next month, a 2026 on the lot (or a 2027 Super Duty already here) is the faster path.
