Short answer: Pick the 2026 Ford Ranger Raptor if you want the most power and a truck built for fast desert running: Ford lists a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 with 405 hp and 430 lb-ft, a 10-speed automatic, 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve shocks, locking front and rear axles and a Baja drive mode. Pick the 2026 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro if you care more about torque down low, a higher towing number and the hybrid’s fuel economy: Toyota lists a 2.4L turbo hybrid with 326 hp and 465 lb-ft, 6,000 lb of towing and 22/24 mpg city/highway (EPA-estimated). As of October 27, 2026, Team Ford Las Vegas lists four new 2026 Ranger Raptors (one in stock, three in transit).
Team Ford Las Vegas is at 5445 Drexel Road, near the US-95 and 215 Beltway interchange in the northwest valley. Every spec below comes from ford.com and toyota.com, checked on October 27, 2026. We left prices out because they change daily and vary by truck.

Specs as listed by Ford and Toyota on October 27, 2026. Towing and payload depend on configuration, cargo and passengers. Check the door-jamb label and window sticker on the exact truck.
Where the Ranger Raptor pulls ahead
- Power: 405 hp versus 326 hp. On a long climb up US-95 toward Kyle Canyon, or merging onto the 215 with gear in the bed, the V6 has the bigger top end.
- Desert-speed suspension: Ford’s 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve dampers adjust continuously to the terrain, and the Raptor adds a Watts-link coil rear and a Baja drive mode built for running fast over whoops and washboard.
- Two lockers: Ford lists locking front and rear axles as standard on the Raptor. Toyota lists a locking rear differential on the TRD Pro.
- Standard equipment you’ll use daily: Ford lists a 12-inch center screen, 12-inch digital cluster, Bang & Olufsen sound, heated leather-trimmed front seats, a 360-degree camera, Pro Trailer Backup Assist and a full-size spare as standard on the Raptor.
Where the Tacoma TRD Pro has the edge
- Torque and towing: Toyota lists 465 lb-ft and 6,000 lb of towing, versus Ford’s 430 lb-ft and 5,510 lb for the Raptor.
- Payload: 1,680 lb on the TRD Pro versus 1,373 lb on the Raptor, per each manufacturer.
- Fuel economy: Toyota publishes a 22/24/23 mpg estimate for the hybrid TRD Pro. Ford’s Raptor page doesn’t list an EPA number, so compare the window stickers side by side.
- Running clearance: 11.5 inches on the TRD Pro versus 10.7 inches on the Raptor. The two companies measure it under slightly different labels, so treat it as close.
Which one fits Las Vegas driving?
Most Raptor and TRD Pro owners here split their week between commuting and dirt. A few local ways to think about it:
- Centennial Hills (89149, 89131) and Lone Mountain (89129): You’re minutes from our Drexel Road store and from desert two-track off US-95. If weekends are about speed in open desert, the Raptor’s Baja mode and Live Valve shocks are the reason to buy it.
- Skye Canyon (89166) and Summerlin West (89138): Mt. Charleston and Red Rock are your backyard. Both trucks handle the trail. The Raptor brings more power for the climb; the TRD Pro brings more low-end torque and the hybrid’s mpg on the commute down US-95 or the 215.
- Aliante and North Las Vegas (89084, 89031): The 215 Beltway runs straight west to Drexel Road. If your truck is a daily driver first, compare the Raptor’s standard tech list against the TRD Pro’s mpg.
- Pahrump (89048, 89060): If you tow over the Mountain Springs grade on NV-160, check the trailer weight first. Both trucks are rated around 5,500–6,000 lb; past that, an F-150 is the step up.
In the summer heat, the bigger tow ratings matter less than keeping the load well under the limit. Ford and Toyota both say towing capacity depends on how the truck is equipped.

How to test-drive both the smart way
- Drive the Raptor first at Team Ford. Ask to try a few drive modes on the way out and the 360-degree camera on the way back.
- Bring your real load. If you tow, know your trailer’s loaded weight. If you haul, think about passengers plus cargo against the payload number.
- Compare the window stickers. Fuel economy, equipment and packages vary by truck.
